[:en]The Longtail Seamoth is a fairly rare species, found inshore on muddy and sandy substrates including seagrass areas, where it 'walks' over the bottom using its tentacular pelvic fins. Sometimes it is seen partly buried. It feeds on small benthic organisms.[:ar]تعتبر سمكة العث طويلة الذيل من الأنواع النادرة. تعيش في المناطق الشاطئية على الأرضيات الطينية والرملية بما في ذلك مناطق الأعشاب البحرية، حيث أنها "تمشي"على القاع بواسطة مجسات الزعانف الحوضية. كذلك من الممكن مشاهدتها مدفونة جزئياً. تتغذى على الكائنات القاعية الصغيرة.[:]
Distribution:
[:en]It is widely distributed in the tropical Indo-West Pacific, from East Africa to Myanmar, north to Japan, and south to Australia.[:ar]يتوزيع هذا النوع على نطاق واسع في المناطق الإستوائية بين المحيط الهندي وغرب المحيط الهادئ، ومن شرق أفريقيا إلى ميانمار، وإلى اليابان شمالاً وأستراليا جنوباً.[:]
Conservation status:
[:en]In the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species global assessment it is listed as Data Deficient (DD); in the Arabian Gulf regional assessment it has been classified as Least Concern (LC). Description:
[:en]These are small fishes encased in bony plates, formed from highly modified fused scales. The carapace of the head and trunk is rigid and broader than deep. The Longtail Seamoth has 12 tail rings; hence this part of the body is flexible. Its coloration is variable ranging from pale with blackish bars to brown and almost black dorsally and laterally, and lighter ventrally. [:ar]هي أسماك صغيرة مغطاة بصفائح عظمية تشكلت عن طريق إندماج قشور شديدة التحور. يكون درع الرأس والجذع صلب وعرضه أكبر من طوله. يوجد على ذيل سمكة العث طويلة الذيل 12 حلقة، ويكون هذا الجزء من الجسم مرن. اللون متغاير ويتراوح بين باهت مع خطوط سوداء إلى بني أو أسود غالباً من الناحيتين الظهرية والجانبية، وبلون فاتح من الناحية البطنية.[:]
