Growth form: Perennial herb or shrub. Flowering. Jan–Dec. Status: Introduced. Local. Also recorded: E Saudi Arabia, UAE. Habitat & distribution: Recorded only once by Batanouny, but the species is now widespread (Abdel Bari 1997). Plentiful in Phragmites ponds at Dukhan water treatment works in 2007 (John Norton). Notes: There is a discussion on the taxonomy of this species in Mandaville (1990)
