Description:

Growth form: Perennial grass. Flowering. Apr–May. Status: Native. Common. Also recorded: Bahrain, E Saudi Arabia, UAE. Habitat & distribution: Frequent to abundant on sand sheets, drifting sand and small dunes, especially in S Qatar. Uses: Batanouny remarks that it is grazed, but not preferred by animals. The species has potential to be used as a sand dune fixer (El Amin).
